This is the basic Hydroflite Launcher.
It comes with everything you need to launch plastic soda pop bottles up
to 250 feet in the air. All you need to provide is the plastic bottle
and a tire pump or air compressor. When you fill the bottle about
1/3 full of water and pressurize it, the rocket will shoot off the
launcher and reach a velocity of up to 200 miles per hour! As the water
is exhausted, the remaining compressed air comes out with a bang. You
can also launch your rockets with just air. (This makes Winter launches
more enjoyable because you won't get splashed.) Take a look at the
center picture below. The left launch is using water and air. The water
comes out in a straight stream. The splashing nearly obscures the
launcher. The right launch is with just air alone. The rapid pressure
drop of the air causes condensation and you can see the fog. The plume
shows an expansion after it exits the rocket throat.
